Deodorants/Anti-perspirants that really don’t leave “white stains”?

Question by doluit: Deodorants/Anti-perspirants that really don’t leave “white stains”?
You know how almost all women’s deodorants claim “no white residue”…I have tried so many and they all leave stains on dark colored tops, for instance I just put a black top on and there they are. I use Degree Ultra Clear for Women “Little Black Dress” approved. I have though of perhaps after putting on my deodorant on after putting on a top, that requires you to put it on over your head. Any other suggestions or ones you have tried that, for real, don’t leave white stains?

To reduce these white marks, AP/DO makers use hydrating solvents in their formulas. However, they can’t completely eliminate the residue because the more solvent they use the less effective and aesthetically appealing the products become. No one wants to put a product under their arms that feels “wet”.

While deodorants don’t have aluminum salts, they do have other ingredients that can cause residues. These are the white, waxy materials used to deliver the active ingredients such as sodium stearate, stearyl alcohol or glyceryl stearate.

    Basic Deodorant Powder
    1/2 cup baking soda
    1/2 cup cornstarch
A few drops essential oils such as lavender or cinnamon

Place the ingredients in a glass jar. Shake to blend. Sprinkle a light covering of the powder on a damp washcloth. Pat on. Don’t rinse.

    Basic Liquid Deodorant
1/4 cup each witch hazel extract, aloe vera gel, and mineral water
    1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
A few drops antibacterial essential oils such as lavender (optional)

Combine the ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake to blend.

    Makes 3/4 cup

    Shelf life: Indefinite.

Do not wear a shirt immediately after applying deodorant,Give it some to dry before wearing clothes.

It doesn’t leave white residue, but it is kind of pricy ($ 13). I wear black so often, that I don’t care how much it costs!

I use a relatively low tech, lower cost Mitchum . . . works great, I use the unscented roll on and that way it does not leave any wierd scent in my clothes and I have not had trouble with any white marks. I do put on my deodorant after my shower and let it dry while I moisterize, etc. By waiting a few minutes for it to dry you will probably minimize the chance of it transfering to clothes. Good luck with that problem, one of life’s everyday little hassles, huh?

Originally, Degree Deodorants/ Antiperspirants weren’t marketed by gender. They made a solid or a gel and it did the job better than any thing before or after. Often dissatisfaction with a product can be resolved if you make a few small changes to the way you utilize it. Within our family we have several “special requirements” with regards to hygiene. Sever atopic dermatitis puts restrictions on how often some individuals can bathe, so an effective longlasting product is a must. It has also been a lifesaver when the house became full of teenage jocks-or video game burnouts, as the day’s of changing family go.
Hint#1. Apply first coat immediately after shower/bath. Let dry while you dry the rest of yourself.
Hint #2. Don’t laugh at blower dryer commercials! For children and adults with dermatitis or other skin disorders (dry skin included) using a fan or blow dryer on a cool or warm setting is much better for the skin than roughing it up with a towel. So, Degree first, PAT excess water of skin, then moisturizer.
Hint#3. Get a second coat of Degree on. If you put that second application on you will find the coverage and effectiveness greatly improved. Should you change clothes later in day, another application will get you through even the toughest events dry and odor free.
Years ago, when women went to the beauty shop and had their hair “set”, they had to protect the set for several days. One of the tricks of the trade was to use a large scarf over the hair and make-up when a pull over dress, sweater or top was worn. Obviously you can do something similar when getting into certain outfits. Leaving time to dry is really the key once you have a brand you are happy with, for me it is Degree.

I have the name of two different deodorants that will not leave any white residue.

Kiss My Face has one called Liquid Rock, I order this from http://www.drugstore.com but I am sure they must carry it in stores like Wal Mart.

Also “Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal” It comes in a roll on and I use that. I get this at Longs Drug which is about the same as a Walgreens.

My boyfriend uses the crystal rock that you wet and apply, too messy for me, but no white residue.

None of these have a scent and they leave no white residue. Plus they work! Really work. I live in a climate that needs a good strong deodorant, these really work well for me!

Good Luck on your quest for the perfect deodorant!
